TabaTalk: A Cloud Communications Platform Built for Growing Teams

Not every business wants to run a phone system. Many want a phone number, an app, a way to route calls to the right people and a record of what was said, delivered as a subscription with nothing to install and nothing to maintain. TabaTalk is that: a cloud voice and messaging platform, sold per user, that Zen distributes in the UAE and GCC. This article explains what it includes, who it suits and how it compares with running your own PBX.

What TabaTalk includes

  • Cloud voice – business numbers, extensions, call routing, IVR menus, queues, voicemail to email and call recording, managed from a web portal.
  • Apps – desktop and mobile apps so that staff make and take calls on the business number from anywhere, with presence and internal chat.
  • Messaging – SMS and messaging channels for customer conversations, alongside voice.
  • Contact-centre features – agent queues, skills routing, wallboards and reporting for teams that handle a high call volume.
  • Integrations – with mainstream CRM and helpdesk platforms so that calls and messages are logged against the customer record.
  • Desk phones – optional; Yealink, Snom and Fanvil handsets from Zen can be provisioned for staff who prefer them.

Who it suits

TabaTalk is built for growing teams: companies from a few users to a few hundred that want to add staff by adding seats, open a new location by adding numbers, and let people work from wherever they are. Typical customers are professional services firms, sales-led businesses, clinics, real-estate brokerages, logistics operators and customer-service teams that need queue management without a contact-centre project.

Cloud subscription versus your own PBX

A platform such as 3CX, which Zen also distributes, is the right choice for organisations that want to own the system, host it where they choose, integrate deeply and license by simultaneous calls. TabaTalk is the right choice when the priority is simplicity: no server, no administrator, predictable per-user pricing, new features arriving without upgrades. Many of Zen’s resellers offer both and recommend by customer.

Getting started

Onboarding takes days rather than weeks. Zen provisions new numbers or ports the existing ones, creates the users and assigns each an app or a desk phone, builds the call flows in the portal and connects the integrations. The people who will manage call flows need about an hour of training. After that, day-to-day administration amounts to adding and removing users and adjusting routing as the business changes.

Questions to ask before subscribing

  • Which numbers can be provisioned and ported, and in what timeframe?
  • Where is call data and recording stored, and for how long?
  • Which CRM and helpdesk integrations are native?
  • What are the queue and reporting features, if you run a service team?
  • What is the per-user price at your headcount, and what is included?
  • Who supports you, and in which time zone?

TabaTalk through Zen

Zen Interactive Technologies distributes TabaTalk in the UAE and GCC, provides onboarding and support from Dubai, and supplies the desk phones and headsets that go with it. For resellers, TabaTalk adds a recurring-revenue line alongside hardware. See the TabaTalk page to arrange a demonstration.
